Shangqiu, located in the eastern part of Henan province, is an ancient city with a rich history spanning back to the Neolithic period. As part of China, the official language spoken here is Mandarin Chinese, although local dialects influenced by the region's historical development may be present as well. Geographically, Shangqiu is situated at the junction of Henan, Shandong, Jiangsu, and Anhui provinces, which makes it an important transportation hub connecting different regions of China.
